If you were not limited by the demands of the national/regional curriculum, what would you say is the most important thing you would teach your students about your subject (in a CLIL context)? How would you assess their learning?
The Valencian curriculum is our reference to teach in this Community. In this document, we can find the curricular elements for Primary Education classified by courses, so we have to work following this. Probably, many teachers think that this selection is not good and they would work other aspects of the subjects in their CLIL units. Firstly, we would add contents related to the units of measurement used in other countries. Our curriculum says that students must measure using the meter (including multiples and submultiples). It would be interesting to use units like feet, miles and inches. They are used in the United States and the United Kingdom, the main countries where students travel to learn English. For this reason, we think it is essential to teach this type of units of measurement in CLIL units. If we were the minister of Education, we would include these units.
